D.C Regional Competition
Tuesday, March 10, 2009Our team staged a respectable performance in this year’s game, FIRST Lunacy. Michael Anderson, our payload specialist, easily racked up points using his basketball skills. During the competition, Michael scored multiple SUPER CELLS, each netting a hefty 15 points for our alliance. Our robot displayed an innovative catapult scoring system, delivered several empty cells, and used its powerful drivetrain to push other robots around the floor at will. Utilizing two powered front wheels and a steerable powered rear wheel the "backerman" system proved its ability by shoving several robots around the field and evading the attentions of the many dumper robots.
In the end, our robot was seeded 23rd out of the 65 entries in the regional, but was not chosen by any of the top eight teams during the alliance selection. Looking forward to Chesapeake, we are working both on improving our shooter and seeing whether a dumper system would be more effective.
