Today we took our 2007 robot to The University of the District of Columbia (UDC), where we used it to encourage participation in robotics and engineering. Our presentation was directed to several groups of highschool girls as part of the 2008 Young Women’s Conference on Non-Traditional Careers. It was great fun–we had them help us drive around the room, discussed the build process, and gave them a close-up tour of the robot. Others on our team helped the young women drive VEX robots through a maze. The attendees seemed very enthusiastic, and we hope some of them will get involved with FIRST.
