(November 11th) Montgomery County STEM Festival

On November 11, 2017, the Blair Robot Project travelled to Hallie Wells Middle School in Clarksburg, Maryland to participate in the Montgomery County STEM Festival to demonstrate our robot.

The MoCo STEM Festival’s goal is to “showcase elementary, middle, and high school STEM opportunities in Montgomery County Public Schools, with hands on activities and demonstrations”.

We brought along our robot that we built for last year’s FIRST competitions, named Calcifer.

The children (and parents) were able to engage hands-on with our robot! They could drive Calcifer around the carpeted area, use our PID programming drive mechanism for movement, and engage with our Robot in a Box activities.

We also played some videos of our robot in action during competition, and there were smiles and interested faces all around.

Overall, MoCo STEM Festival was an inspiring experience for both parties – Team 449 and the audience to our creation!
