Build robots...as a middle-schooler...with Lego!
FIRST LEGO League is a robotics competition for middle schoolers. Under the guidance of 449 team members, students learn to build and program a robot (using SPIKE Prime bricks) to solve real-world problems. (Watch this video about the 2026-27 game.) Through this experience, they develop leadership, collaboration, and technical skills!
Since 2022, we have mentored FLL Team 57535, “The Blair Lego Project". In 2026, we received a large number of sign-ups, so we launched a second team: FLL Team 76712, "The Blair Lego JV Project." This expansion allows us to welcome even more students into our program.
Our program is now structured by grade level:
- FLL Team 76712: Grades 5–6
- FLL Team 57535: Grades 7–8
Both teams meet at Montgomery Blair High School (51 University Blvd E, Silver Spring, MD). The FLL season starts in September and runs into the new year. (Just how far into the year depends on the team's performance in tournaments.)
All students in grades 5-8 are invited to apply! Applications for each season open during summer break.
